General Summary:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving revenue growth, market expansion, and brand positioning for Ace Technologies. This role leads both the business development (sales) team and estimating function, ensuring a strong pipeline, competitive positioning, and profitable project acquisition.
The Director oversees all external-facing brand efforts, including marketing, digital presence, and client engagement, while ensuring alignment between sales strategy, estimating accuracy, and operational execution.
The Director of Business Development reports to the Vice President of Ace Technologies and serves as the leader responsible for converting opportunities into profitable work.

Responsibilities:
Revenue Growth & Sales Leadership
- Lead all business development efforts to drive revenue growth across service, projects, contracts, and technology solutions.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with company growth objectives.
- Build and maintain a strong, qualified pipeline of opportunities.
- Establish and track sales KPIs including win rate, pipeline health, and revenue conversion.
- Provide leadership oversight on key pursuits, proposals, and high-value deal negotiations.
Estimating & Preconstruction Leadership
- Oversee estimating function to ensure accurate, competitive, and profitable bids.
- Partner with the Estimating Manager to improve bid strategy, pricing models, and margin performance.
- Ensure alignment between estimating, field operations, and project execution.
- Monitor estimating KPIs including bid-hit ratio, estimate accuracy, and turnaround time.
- Lead or support negotiations on major contracts and complex deals.
Brand Strategy & Market Positioning
- Own and elevate the Ace Technologies brand in the marketplace.
- Ensure consistent messaging aligned with company values, capabilities, and mission.
- Position Ace Technologies as a leader in life safety, security, and integrated technology solutions.
- Identify and pursue strategic markets, industries, and client segments.
Marketing & Communications Oversight
- Oversee all marketing initiatives including:
- Company website strategy, content, and performance
- Social media presence and engagement
- External communications such as newsletters, campaigns, and announcements
- Sales materials, presentations, and branded content
- Ensure marketing efforts directly support business development and revenue generation.
- Track and measure marketing effectiveness and ROI.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key clients and strategic partners.
- Support Business Development Representatives in developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business, cross-selling, and long-term partnerships.
- Represent Ace Technologies in industry events, networking, and community engagement.
Proposal Development & Presentation Leadership
- Oversee development of proposals, presentations, and bid submissions.
- Ensure all materials are professional, compelling, and aligned with brand standards.
- Lead or support high-impact client presentations and interviews.
- Differentiate Ace Technologies through value-based selling and solution-focused messaging.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the estimating and business development teams.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability metrics.
- Drive a high-performance, results-oriented culture.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training and development plans.
- Responsible for actively promoting and maintaining high employee morale to foster a positive, productive, and engaged work environment.
Operational Alignment & Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Director of Field Operations to ensure seamless transition from sales to execution.
- Align sales commitments with operational capabilities and capacity.
- Ensure clear communication between business development, estimating, and operations teams.
- Collaborate with management and the Accounting Manager to ensure an appropriate volume of work is secured while aligning with available resources.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Insight
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies.
- Provide strategic recommendations on pricing, positioning, and service offerings.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, expansion, and differentiation.
Position Requirements:
- License: Valid state driver's license as required by job conditions or by the company.
- 8-10+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, or preconstruction within construction, low voltage, or technical services industries.
- Proven success in driving revenue growth and managing high-performing sales teams.
- Experience overseeing estimating or preconstruction functions.
- Strong understanding of life safety systems, security, or technology-based solutions is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations and close complex deals.
- Strong communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
