Join our team as a Quality Inspector III!
You will work with our Quality and Manufacturing teams performing inspections. You’ll be a key contributor on Critical to Quality(CTQ) and Advanced Quality Inspection projects along with other initiatives that support, grow, and manage our Quality capabilities at Protolabs.
Shift: 6a-4p Mon; 6a-6p Tue & Wed; 6a-12p Thu
What You Will Do:
- Act as key point of contact for QC aspects.
- Promote a culture of Safety, Teamwork, Trust and Accountability
- Determine if an order is shippable and conduct final inspection.
- Identify quality issues relating to finishing, manufacturing processes, packaging, and order fulfillment.
- Collaborate to determine corrective action as necessary with department supervisor and co-workers.
- Use a variety of precision measuring equipment from calipers and pin gauges and advanced inspection equipment.
- Transport parts to designated areas
- Perform CTQ CMM and Visual inspection as required
- Document and report inspection findings and results, and monitor corrective actions.
- Refer to work instructions and/or pictures to clarify part specific defects or acceptable conditions
- Act as the primary contact for escalation of issues from Inspection Teams
- Audit and monitor quality requirements in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications.
- Align inspection methods and competences and ensure specifications are available and clearly understood by all.
- Audit and ensure continuous improvement of the inspection process.
- Review new inspection requirements, marked up pictures, specified tolerances, checking method.
- Enter key inspection process data and perform trending analysis.
- Highly engaged in the education of team members to ensure the quality of product manufactured meets established standards
- Ensure that corrective action plans are adhered to and non-conforming products are managed.
- Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization.
- Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What It Takes:
- 2-3+ years of prior experience in a manufacturing or similar work environment
- Proficient with Microsoft office applications
- Familiar with data collection and statistical methods
- Familiarity with quality systems standards, such as ISO9001, AS9100, ISO/TS16949 or ISO13485
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Experience working with customers and suppliers
- Proficient with CMM, PC Dmis, Polyworks or similar measurement software

- Related experience with certification in assigned area preferred

Physical Demands:

Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
